This is Cozette. She is one of our new survey techs at RH. She has been with us for just over a month. Cozette was hired to help primarily for CAD and mapping tasks in the office, but we were able to get her out in the field this week.

On her first day in the field, Cozette was able to run the data collector on a PPK GNSS survey and watch her first UAV flight!

We believe cross-training field and office surveyors is vitally important to creating well-rounded surveyors and a high-performing team. We are proud that Cozette has embraced that opportunity!

I'm so proud of this monument that Brian Leiser and my field crews installed on our large boundary survey in Beardsley Lake that I had to take a photo and post it here. Look at that rock mound!

4 1/2 years ago, RH was 1 1/2 people. (Just me and my part-time friend Austin Hart at the start.)

This last week, our team grew to 15 people. We've added Cozette Anderson, James Canada, and Miriam Valdez as full-time team members. I'm already impressed with how hard they are working.

When I started our little survey shop, I had no idea we'd grow to over a dozen people and fill a small two-story brick building in Oakdale, California. Every day, when I walk around and see all the hard work being done, I'm deeply humbled. I feel unqualified to lead such a great team and unworthy of all the blessings we've received.

Running RH with my fantastic business partner Brian Leiser has forever changed my life. I will never forget the experience.

I deeply respect and care for each of these folks.

A client of ours recently sent us a 130-page zoning report. Of the 130 pages, 120 pages were regurgitated municipal code. The compliance information was also buried in the other data in the first 10 pages. This makes it very hard for a decision maker (for example: a land attorney working on due diligence) to determine (at a glance) if there are land use planning issues that deserve closer inspection. In addition, the zoning report didn't include a map.

1) A summary page that lets you quickly determine if the subject parcel and existing uses are in non-conformance with the land use regulations.

2) A graphical map showing the subject parcel, its zoning, its current land use and all of the adjoining parcels with their zoning and current land use. If building setbacks are applicable, they are shown graphically.

3) A graphical table showing the by-right, conditional, and accessory uses for the subject parcel based on the current zoning.

If you really want 100+ pages of municipal code with your zoning report, we can include that as an appendix. But we want to help you focus on the really important information.

115 years?

Yes! I looked at a parcel in the San Francisco Bay Area this past week that hadn't been surveyed in 115 years. The original survey from 1906 also didn't set permanent monuments at the property corners.

This isn't uncommon in the Bay Area. If you are a real estate broker, real estate agent, or land attorney assisting a buyer, you have a duty to report this type of information to your client. This is also information you should consider if you are doing a real estate appraisal.
