Pine Hall Cemetery
05/20/2019
I was at the Pine Hall Cemetery today working on the flag poles, getting them ready for the Memorial Day service this weekend. At 12 noon the Pine Hall Lutheran Church carillon system began to play. It reminded me of my grandmother Helen (nan nan), who is buried in the Cemetery. Nan nan was a convincing lady in her beliefs. She never missed Sunday school or church and believed that Sunday was a day of rest, and she would scold you if you tried to wash your car on Sunday. I remember her telling me that God would take care of you, but you had to go to church on Sunday. Every Sunday after church our family would sit around a large dinner table, talk about the sermon and church in general. One day I said, “wouldn’t it be nice to have a carillon system at the church”. I remember hearing one when our family visited Hershey, Pa. Nan nan passed away in 1982 and in her will, she gave money to the Pine Hall Lutheran Church to install a carillon system. Now you know the rest of the story.
