YES, Alvin Ailey studied with Luigi.
My mentor mentioned that Alvin was one of his first students when he was on faculty at the June Taylor School of Dance. He also said that Alvin followed him after he formed .
Luigi introduced me to Alvin after the 25th anniversary concert of his company and he brought Luigi backstage of City Center to meet the dancers.
