The Party Theater presents In the Next Room (or the vi****or play) by Sarah Ruhl. Set in the 1880s at the dawn of the age of electricity and based on the bizarre historical fact that doctors used vi****ors to treat “hysterical” women (and some men), this revelatory comedy centers on a doctor and his wife and how his new therapy affects their entire household. And for the first time, Ruhl’s acclaimed play will be performed by an all female cast.

Following The Party’s sold-out 2025 production of Dance Nation, this all-local cast and crew brings brilliantly to life a modern classic by one of our finest living playwrights. Dir. by Kristin “Kiki” McCalley. Starring Marisa Caruso, Annie Pevear, Alyssa Matthews, Adrian Shirk, Catherine Morrison, Sinzia Reese, Pareesa Pourian and Amy Rae.
