Our favorite place to meet, and catch up with old friends, has always been at The Royale. Tomorrow, Sunday June 14, we get to be a part of their 21st Anniversary celebration. It's an honor, for sure, and we hope some of you can make it out!

The Royale will be closed Sunday, May 24 and Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day weekend.

Sometimes even the bar stools need a day off.

We’ll reopen Wednesday, May 27 at 4pm with cold drinks, a full kitchen, and whatever stories everybody got into over the long weekend.

📻 WEATHER BULLETIN 📻

After reviewing the forecast, we’re activating the rain date.

The Royale Turns 21 and Free Candy with Amanda Doyle will move to:

Sunday, June 14
3pm

With Kevin Scannell, Eamonn Wall, The High and The Mighty, surprise guests, and all the assorted chaos we’ve been planning.

The production involved is simply too much to gamble on a rainy afternoon.

That said, The Royale will still be open this Sunday, June 7, and I’ll be around if anyone stops by. Consider it an informal office hours version of the anniversary.

The full celebration happens June 14.

We’ll keep the signal alive a little longer.

Before podcasts swallowed the earth, there were just barrooms full of people talking.

We’re doing that again as The Royale turns 21 with the return of the live talk show Free Candy.

Lucky to have neighborhood stalwart and storyteller Amanda Doyle hosting while I publicly process my increasingly Irish midlife pivot in front of a microphone.

Sunday, June 7 - 3pm
Hosted by Amanda Doyle
Kevin Scannell
Eamonn Wall
Surprise Guests
Special musical guests: The High and The Mighty

We’ll probably talk about Galway, bars, poetry, Gaeilge, sister cities, community-building gone sideways in the best possible way, and how a South City tavern accidentally became part of an international exchange program.

No paywall. No podcast app. Just people in the courtyard behind the neighborhood bar.

Rain date: 6/14
Call made 48 hours out.
DM to hold a table or seats.
