Knead to Heal - A Community Wellness Program
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PIZZA TOPPINGS?

I never wanted to introduce a program without knowing why it works.
For years, I would say, “I can’t tell you why it works, but it does.” That wasn’t enough for me. I needed to understand the how behind the transformation.
So I started digging — and what I found was fascinating. The answers came through neuroscience and psychology, with a sprinkle of other powerful elements woven in.
When you knead dough, your body falls into a steady rhythm. That repetitive motion tells your nervous system it’s safe to relax, while the coordinated use of both hands engages both hemispheres of the brain — something therapists use to help people process emotions. The feel of the dough, the scent of the yeast, the satisfaction of shaping it — all of this draws you into the present moment. And when you share the finished pizza or bread with others, it deepens that sense of connection and joy.
Knead to Heal isn’t just about making dough. It’s about creating a safe space where community comes together for a wonderfully nourishing experience — for your body, mind, and soul.

With over 20 years of experience in mental health—working as a community-based provider, in treatment courts supporting individuals with substance use disorders, and as a wellness coach—I’ve always believed in meeting people where they are and walking arm in arm toward better health. Seven years ago, I opened a bakery to supplement my income, specializing in decorated cookies and seasonal cinnamon rolls. Baking brought me joy, but my journey with dough took on new meaning after a deeply personal chapter in my life.
My oldest son was born with bilateral clubbed feet, requiring multiple surgeries over the years. During what was meant to be his final corrective procedure, complications nearly claimed his life. While his recovery was swift, mine was not. I found myself drawn to the quiet, steady rhythm of kneading dough—a simple act that eased my anxiety and helped me process the weight of that experience.
From this, Knead to Heal was born: a community wellness program that blends my expertise in baking with my understanding of how hands-on, sensory-rich experiences can support emotional well-being. Here, participants are invited to slow down, connect, and nurture themselves—body, mind, and soul—through the grounding act of baking and the shared joy of breaking bread together.
