Paul knew that to live for the Lord would mean he could continue to do good works on earth and time meant that he would finally be in the hands of his father like he had been longing for. In the wisdom he chose to live, to make more of an impact on earth and continue to win souls for the kingdom so it would nit just be him he is committed into his fathers hands but that many more would also receive that privilege when the time came.
