Happy New Year! Thanks to your support and Thrivent Action Team volunteers, we brought a New Year’s Eve celebration to St. Mary’s yesterday, including:
🎊 Snacks for nurses, doctors, and staff in Women’s Health units. Since they’re working on the holiday, we bought some sparkling cider to make it a bit more festive!
🎊 Care packages for all antepartum patients
🎊 Sparkling cider for each NICU room and snacks in their family lounge

If you’re hospitalized before having a baby, it comes with learning lots of new lingo! We often mention that we bring care packages to antepartum, but what does that mean?

Antepartum means the period before childbirth. This is also the department at St. Mary’s where patients go if they need to be hospitalized while pregnant, and currently it also includes patients recovering from a recent surgery like a hysterectomy.

Our founder Tara was hospitalized multiple times during her pregnancy, and one of the hardest parts was when it was over a holiday. We always say there is never a good time to be in the hospital, but it has a little extra sting when you are missing out on holiday plans with family and friends, which is why we focus on bringing care packages on holidays throughout the year. We hope to bring a moment of encouragement and joy on an otherwise stressful day at the hospital.
