It's Fall Back Time!

Reminder to turn your clocks back by 1 hour before going to bed tonight. Daylight savings ends at 2 AM on November 6.

You may have heard the old proclamation, “We get an extra hour of sleep!” in November.

Yes, November daylight saving time ending means a bit more sleep when the clock remains in position for another hour. In other words, less daylight as we head into the colder months.

Winston Churchill once described daylight saving time as...

“An extra yawn one morning in the springtime, an extra snooze one night in the autumn is all that we ask in return for dazzling gifts. We borrow an hour one night in April; we pay it back with golden interest five months later.”

Happy Halloween!

The Halloween tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.

Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints in the eighth century. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain.

The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween.

Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes, and eating treats.
