Spellbound: A Musical Fable
08/27/2015
In celebration of the poetry quoting “Spellbound!” character, Rasputin Rat, we reflect on the idea presented by Robert Frost in “The Road Not Taken.” A musical dream of Gary F. Bell and Robert L. White was realized after years of writing, reworking, staged readings, orchestral music arranging by Christopher Thomas, a committed Saint Louis cast/production crew/band who dedicated nearly a year of their time to see “Spellbound! A Musical Fable” at Stray Dog Theatre through twelve magical performances (often reworking bits from performance to performance). This “road” was a journey for all involved of personal and collective growth in character and art. THANK YOU to all for traveling with us! We are grateful to the Saint Louis audiences (and audience members from both Coasts, and places in between) who came, supported, and enjoyed the energies invested in this project. “Magic is simply how you look at the world!” To quote Frost: “…I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” Congrats for taking a risk and for making dreams a reality! Another lovely review! This time from Richard Green of "Talkin' Broadway" - St. Louis.
We have been so informed by the feedback of our reviewers, audience, and friends. What an incredible experience to be able to present our Spellbound and work on it in such a supporting atmosphere. We truly could not have done this without the multi talents of our wonderful cast, band, and backstage crew! All of their hard work has made this possible! Gary and I are like the kids in the (gluten free- low fat) candy store!

Abby Eisen (Cloud Burst) and Stefanie Kluba ( Beaver Sister/ Perfect Fit Woman) were the only two sadly missing from this group shot. I can only assume that they were making gin martini's upstairs in my Greenroom! or at least that's what my dreams of martini's tell me! Pictured or not, what a brilliant group of actors. Thank you for showing us, every night, how to be better at what we do. Thank you for giving us your talents and wonderful spirits!
! (don't look it up...I've no idea how to "twitter" I just know that's what the kids do today.) Yes...I'm old and happy and lucky and blessed. Now who's got my GIN?!!?
