Software Security vs. Hardware Security
Software security - such as antivirus software and password managers - require regular updates and patches as vulnerabilities are discovered. This patching process can itself leave you vulnerable to cyberattacks, as seen in the 2020 SolarWinds attack. Hardware security (or ‘hardsec’) involves using specialized devices to protect files through encryption and decryption, with no patches, updates, or maintenance required. Hardware-based security offers the highest level of protection, even in the face of sophisticated nation-state cyberattacks.
