I’ve been trying to find enjoyment and purpose in showing up here lately; the past few years really.

There was a time when I truly enjoyed creating [content] and sharing my inner thoughts via social media. It was a creative outlet for me. There was a multitude of things that happened that brought dread w social media.

Maybe it was the pressure of the industry and it’s push for showing up or doing it “the right way”, or that people would get to know a version of me that does not exist.. (or that media in general is heavy.)

Day after day (year after year) of telling myself “i’m trying to be better about showing up for myself and my business” it became apparent to me that it wasnt about not having time, it wasnt about not having content to post, or not knowing what to do. There was this block that was preventing me from showing up how I wanted to and was holding me back from my growth as a stylist, as a business owner, and as a person.

It was the fear of being seen. And the fear of being seen for who I am. Coming to the realization that an initial opinion and a first impression is going to happen regardless of me putting myself out there. Even if I can curate an image of how i want to be perceived that opinion is and will always be out of my control.

There is a need to relinquish control because it was never in my possession to begin with, and to show up how I am in that moment, on that day and with that, to find joy and enjoyment in creating again. (And not giving a f*** about a typo because I’m a real person lol)
