🍁 Save and share this beautiful spot! Maramec Spring Park is one of Missouri's most lovely spots. Located less than 2 hours from St. Louis, this park makes a stunning day trip. ⠀ 💦 The park is privately owned but open to the public. The highlight of the park is the turquoise blue waters of Maramec Spring, the fifth largest in the state. ⠀ 🥾 A short, paved loop circles the spring and passes along the fish hatchery. Bring quarters to feed the fish. ⚠️ Use caution with kids as much of the path does not have a railing along the water. ⠀ 🪨 In addition to the spring, you can explore the ruins of the old iron works that once operated here. Or continue to follow the path allow the river to cross a suspension bridge and make a loop. ⠀ Other activities in the park include: ⠀ 🐟 Fishing: The river is stocked with trout 🚗 Scenic drive: Take the gravel road to an overlook and past the remains of old homesteads 🚜 Museum: The park features two free museums about the natural, cultural, and agriculture history of the area. 🛝 Playground: A playground is located up the hill with some old time metal play equipment 🥾 Hiking: A 1.6 mile moderate hiking trail can be found off the scenic drive near the mine pit. 🥪 Cafe: If you get hungry there is a cafe near the entrance as well as sweet treats in one of the museums 🚻 Restrooms are at several locations in the park ⠀ 🕦 The park is open year round. Hours vary by season and can be found on their website.
