Missouri Naloxone Program Facing Steep Budget Cut - Missourinet 04/10/2026

Missourinet is reporting on the proposed Missouri House budget cut to Missouri's naloxone distribution program.

The House budget proposes an $8 million cut, which would amount to approximately a 50% reduction in funding for the program. Dr. Winograd told Missourinet that a cut of this size could limit access to naloxone and first responder training across the state:

"This is the type of programming that would just totally crack, if not fall apart, if we lost over half our funding for this program." -Dr. Rachel Winograd

The Missouri Senate is currently reviewing the House budget proposal. Gov. Mike Kehoe's budget called for retaining the funding.
