Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence and the freedoms, service, and sacrifice that have shaped our nation. Springville Firefighters wishes everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July.

Today, we join the fire service across the nation in mourning the loss of three wildland firefighters who lost their lives while battling wildfires near the Utah–Colorado border.

We extend our deepest condolences to their families, friends, crewmates, and all those affected by this tragic loss. We also keep the two injured firefighters in our thoughts as they recover.

Wildland firefighting is an inherently dangerous profession that demands extraordinary courage and commitment. We are grateful for the dedication and sacrifice of those who protect our communities and our natural resources.

Please join us in keeping these firefighters, their loved ones, and the entire wildland fire community in your thoughts.

The U.S. Forest Service joins family members, friends, colleagues and the entire wildland fire community in mourning the loss of three wildland firefighters who died Saturday, June 27, as part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado-Utah border. Two additional firefighters sustained injuries and are in our thoughts as they receive medical care.

We extend our unwavering support to the families of the fallen, the injured firefighters, and their fellow crew members during this difficult time.

We stand with the U.S. Wildland Fire Service and our interagency partners in honoring the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice of these firefighters. Their commitment to protecting the public, communities, and natural resources exemplifies the highest ideals of public service.

An interagency review and investigation of the incident is ongoing. Additional details will be shared as they are able to be released.

Smoke visible and smelled throughout Springville and Utah Valley is from a large active wildfire burning approximately 4 miles northwest of Eureka.

As of 0800 hours on June 20, there are no active fires within the Springville Fire Department response area.

Today, we remember and honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice secured freedoms that can never be taken for granted.
