When you are looking for a custom builder, please ask for 3 references that span a few years. You want a builder that has a reputation of being integritable. It goes far beyond building a beautiful home. You want a builder who stays the course after you move in, who answers your calls and takes care of any concerns or questions or warranty.

Spend time talking to your perspective builder. Does he answer your questions thoroughly? You don't want one that seems to rush you through the process. That is a red flag!

It matters that you "fit" with your builder and have a rapport. You will be in relationship with them through the build process and after you've taken possession of your home.
