This is the 155th anniversary of the death of Thomas “Tad” Lincoln, youngest son of . He was just 18 when he died. We thought we would share a few reminders of his big personality – his model cannon, his pony and ring made of horsehair, an illustration of visiting the fallen Confederate capital, and a picture that captures him fidgeting during a photo session.

was bitterly disappointed that Confederate forces escaped after their loss at Gettysburg. Robert Lincoln quoted his father as saying he could have done a better job himself than the Union army did -- a sentiment Lincoln woud soon retract.
