“There’s Still Hope” – A God Moment Behind the Walls

Yesterday, I had the incredible opportunity to speak to a small group of youth inside a Juvenile Detention Center. With the new judge in place, only high-risk and serious offenders are currently being held—so this wasn’t a large crowd. Just 12 kids.

But sometimes God does His best work in small rooms.

I came in not just as a speaker, but as DJ T Hunny—sharing music from my latest album and a song I wrote specifically for them. And I’ll be honest… this wasn’t about putting on a performance. This was about connection. This was about truth.

This was about purpose.

Real Talk Over Perfection

I didn’t walk in there pretending to be perfect.

I shared my story—the embarrassing moments, the poor decisions, the things I’m not proud of. The kind of stuff most people try to hide. Because I needed them to understand something real:

They are not alone.

Every single person in that room—staff included—has made mistakes. Some just didn’t get caught. Some didn’t face the same consequences. But none of us are without flaws.

And more importantly…

None of us are beyond grace.

And in a world that’s quick to label, judge, and remind you of your worst moments, I wanted them to hear something different:

God still loves you. Right now. Not later. Not “once you fix everything.” Right now.

My goal walking in was simple—if I could reach just one kid, it would be worth it.

But God had bigger plans.

You could feel the shift in the room. Walls started coming down. Eyes locked in. Heads nodding. Conversations opening up. It wasn’t just the kids—staff and volunteers felt it too.

And truthfully… so did I.

That’s what a real God moment feels like.

The most powerful part of the day was the song I wrote just for them.

It wasn’t just lyrics—it was a message. A reminder. A lifeline.

And when I was getting ready to leave, something hit me:

Kids were asking the staff if they could download the songs…
If they could listen during class time…
If they could hold onto that feeling just a little longer.

That right there?

That’s impact.

From lunch pop-ups and corporate events to school functions, weddings, and nightlife club scenes, the energy has been nonstop. Every setting, every crowd, every vibe—different… but one thing stays the same: creating moments people remember.

Tonight’s mother-son dance was one of those moments.

Going into it, there was that natural question—how’s this gonna go? But once the music started, it all made sense. The boys ran around, danced, ran around some more, sang their hearts out… and yeah, ran around again. Pure joy. Pure energy. Exactly what it was supposed to be.

More importantly, the night was about celebrating and honoring the mothers and guardians—the real MVPs behind these young kings. The love in the room was felt from start to finish.

It was a dope night overall.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. There are a lot of talented DJs out there, so to be the one chosen for these moments means everything.
