After getting rained out on our first attempt, D’arrica & Cole ended up with a gorgeous fall day for their engagement session 😍 The colors were really showing off, so I’d say it was worth it! They were so much fun and I can’t wait for their wedding day next year.

Cole’s 1 photo request even made the grid 😎

I’ve had a few consultation meetings with brides lately, and a question I keep getting is:

“Do you think it’s ok if we sneak away for a little bit together for food/drinks and to soak it all in, or is that rude?”

Personally, I 100% think that’s just fine, and in fact you SHOULD. I think it’s easy for couples to get caught up in pleasing guests, family, etc and forget that it is their day. Yes, all of those people are also very important to you and your day, but your wedding day goes so fast.

Take 30 minutes and just enjoy your day. Together. Without the hustle and bustle of everything else. Having a cocktail hour is a great opportunity to do that. You can finish up any needed photos, then go relax before entering the reception. Have your planner, MOH, etc grab you a plate of food and some drinks and go enjoy that just married high! 🍾

Javy & Ashley are the sweetest humans on this planet, and I was so excited when they asked me to capture their wedding day. Not only did I get to spend the day with them, but it was my first destination wedding. Oregon is absolutely stunning, and everyone should add it to their bucket list.

It also says a lot that I got on a sailboat (and walked across a veryyy narrow ledge 😵‍💫) with them for photos. The sail around the river was breathtaking, and thankfully your girl (who’s terrified of fish) didn’t fall in 😎
