On April 16, 2026, during the final monthly senate meeting of GSS 2025–2026 term, GSS newly elected leaders took the oath of office, marking the beginning of a new chapter of service, advocacy, and impact.

The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) is accepting applications for Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates for the 2026-2027 academic year! This is your chance to take an active role in shaping the graduate student experience at Missouri State University!
GSS President & Vice-President Reponsibilities
• Advocate for graduate student interests
• Collaborate with the Graduate College and other student organizations
• Organize and oversee GSS meetings and initiatives
To run, candidates must be in good academic standing and continuing as MO State graduate students for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Important Deadlines & Requirements
• Application Deadline: Friday, March 13
• Campaign Week: March 23–26 (includes a social media Q&A with GSS)
• Election Forum Presentation: Thursday, March 26 at 6:00 PM in PSU 313
• Online voting: March 27 to April 1 at 5:00 PM
• Leadership Transition Meeting: April 16 at 6:00 PM in PSU 313

The Graduate Student Senate kicked off the Spring semester with its first meeting of 2026, held on 22 January.
The session included leadership updates, introductions of new members, and conversations around initiatives aimed at improving the graduate student experience across all Missouri State campuses.
Key highlights included updates on upcoming student body elections, advocacy efforts around financial transparency, and reminders of helpful student resources like Bearisters (free legal support) and campus equipment rentals.
Committees also shared plans for the semester — from networking opportunities and professional development events to expanded outreach and engagement for graduate students.
