Through a variety of monitoring programs, Illinois EPA has sampled approximately 3,500 stream stations statewide, collecting biological, chemical, habitat, and flow data to better understand water quality conditions and help protect our waterways for future generations.

Chicago Area Air Pollution Action Day - Wednesday, May 27 🟠

Due to elevated ground-level ozone levels in the Chicago metropolitan area the air quality is expected to reach the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” category. Children, older adults, and individuals with respiratory conditions should limit prolonged outdoor activity. Sensitive individuals should follow their doctor's advice.
