Turn those negatives into positives!
The fourth of July is just around the corner and we hope you have a wonderful celebration planned. Before you head out to watch the fireworks, we want to share a few important eye safety reminders.
Fireworks are one of the leading causes of eye injuries in the United States, and many of those injuries happen to bystanders, not just the people handling them. Here are a few simple ways to protect your eyes this holiday:
➡️Leave professional fireworks to the professionals. Even sparklers burn at extremely high temperatures and can cause serious eye injuries in an instant.
➡️Keep a safe distance. If you're attending a public fireworks show, stay behind the designated safety barriers. The further back, the better.
➡️Never pick up unexploded fireworks. Duds can still ignite and cause serious harm.
If an eye injury does occur, do not rub your eye and seek medical attention immediately. Do not try to treat it at home.
Your vision is irreplaceable, and a few simple precautions can go a long way. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July from all of us at Springfield Eye Specialists!
