Mental Health Monday!
🌿 Learning Mindfulness as a Beginner: Small Steps Toward a Calmer You

Life moves fast 🏃 💨 — sometimes faster than we’d like. Between responsibilities, notifications, and the constant noise of everyday life, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Mindfulness offers a way to slow down, reconnect, and breathe again. And the best part? You don’t need experience, special tools, or long meditation sessions to begin. You just need a moment.

If you’re new to mindfulness, here are a few simple techniques that can help you build calm into your day:

🗣️ Breath Awareness — Sit comfortably and take a slow inhale for 4 counts, then exhale for 6. Feel the air move in and out. This small shift signals your nervous system to relax.

🧘 5‑Senses Check‑In — When your mind feels scattered, pause and name one thing you can see, hear, feel, smell, and taste. It gently brings you back into the present moment.

🔎 Body Scan — Close your eyes and slowly move your attention from the top of your head down to your toes. Notice any tension and soften it as you go.

Mindfulness isn’t about “emptying your mind” or doing it perfectly. It’s about noticing — noticing your breath, your body, your thoughts, and the world around you with a little more kindness and a little less judgment.

⌚ Start with one minute today. Then try two tomorrow. Over time, these tiny moments of awareness add up, creating more space, more clarity, and more peace in your daily life.

If you’ve been wanting to feel more grounded, this is your sign to begin.

It's Mental Health Monday!

💛 Show Appreciation, Strengthen Mental Health 💛

Life gets busy, and it’s easy to assume the people we love already know how much they mean to us—but saying it out loud matters more than you think. 💬

Showing appreciation isn’t just kind—it supports mental health too:
✨ Deepens connections
😊 Boosts your mood
💙 Reminds others they matter

A simple “I’m glad you’re in my life,” a thoughtful text, or a quick check-in can brighten someone’s whole day. 🌟

💬 Try this today:
• Send a message to someone on your mind 📲
• Thank a friend for something specific 🙌
• Tell someone what you admire about them ❤️

Your words might be exactly what someone needs to hear. 💙

The Illinois Jaycees are busy at the JCI USA National Convention!! Our very own Amber Calvert - 2026 Illinois Jaycees Admin VP, Megan O'Brien, 2026 Illinois Jaycees 95th State President and Eric Hiatt - 2026 JCI USA Treasurer took part in the Leadership Showcase earlier today! We’ve participated in trainings, adventured around Missoula, attended the lunch awards and will be wrapping up 2025 with the awards dinner later tonight! We are so incredibly proud of all our members and chapter in 2025 and can’t wait to see what they do in 2026! 🎉
