“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? Isaiah 43:18-19a NIV
If you live in Missouri, the seasons change at the drop of hat, so change is often one day away. If we're honest, we are always beginning a new phase or a new season - though we don't always see it or acknowledge it. Isaiah reminds us to "Look" and not miss the new growth happening right in front of us. Have you ever missed something new and good because you were so focused on the past?
“Lord, loosen my grip on what was... so I can receive what you are doing now.”
“But the LORD is the one who is marching before you! He is the one who will be with you! He won’t let you down. He won’t abandon you. So don’t be afraid or scared!””
Deuteronomy 31:8 CEB
Isn’t it fascinating that Moses tells the people not to be afraid? It’s as if he knows there will be times when it won’t look like or feel like God is present with them. It might look like they have been abandoned.
When it feels like or looks like God isn’t with us, we can forget the value of vision, purpose, and connection. It’s in these moments we need to lean into the very things we have forgotten.
What does vision, purpose, and connection look like for you?
