What happens when a machine is down… because a part no longer exists?

A customer reached out to Northeast 3D with a seatbelt retention mechanism used inside a piece of equipment. The “PRESS” release button + housing were old, UV-baked, brittle plastic — and they finally failed.

There was one big problem:
✅ No replacement parts
✅ No CAD models
✅ No drawings
✅ Nothing to buy (and the equipment still needed to run)

So we rebuilt it from reality.

Here’s the exact workflow:

3D Scanning (Blue Laser + HD Structured Light): We captured the worn geometry and fine features accurately, even with damaged surfaces.

Reverse Engineering + CAD: We reconstructed the release button, housing, and functional geometry so the design could be made with modern manufacturing methods.

3D Printed Verification: We printed prototypes to confirm fit, movement, and interface before final production.

Manufacturing-Ready Output: The customer now has a clean digital model they can reproduce whenever needed.

This is why we do what we do:
obsolete doesn’t have to mean trash.

If you’ve got equipment held hostage by a broken, unavailable part — send it to us.
