Bring your favorite board game and your favorite people and enjoy some time together in the same home where Susan Lawrence Dana hosted the Hamilton Whist Club for games more than 100 years ago. The Lincoln Tomb Flag Lowering Ceremony is a must-see part of your summer experience in Springfield - each Tuesday June-August, volunteers of the 114th Illinois Volunteer Infantry lower the flag that has flown over the Lincoln Tomb and present it to someone in attendance, with the help of the Soldiers Aid Society Springfield. This week (July 14), be sure to arrive at the site at 6:00 to hear a performance by the 10th Cavalry Band, followed by the flag ceremony at 7:00 pm. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and spend the evening with us!
