We’d like you to meet Joy, she’s come all the way from Guantanamo Bay to find a home. Joy is a little under a year old and adores other cats. It’s been quite the change coming from Cuba to Maryland but she’s been getting used to things. She gives forceful headbutts for attention and is a big talker who’s not shy about letting you know what she wants. Usually more food, especially Churus or canned food.
Joy has the classic Cuban cat stripes and spots, and the strong survivor attitude she needed to make it in the harsh climate. If you may be interested in adopting Joy send us a message or email at [email protected]
We’ll continue to help GTMO cats in any ways that we can.

This Giving Tuesday we wanted to highlight some big medical cases we had this year.
Wasabi and her brother Sushi were little kittens living outside with a caretaker. Wasabi appeared one day with a broken leg. We’ve gotten extensive x-rays and exams from specialists as she’s grown and those costs add up. Thankfully, we determined she doesn’t need an amputation! She has full mobility and use of her leg, she climbs, jumps, and runs normally, you’d never know she ever had an injury!
Smokey is our teddy bear cat, all he wants is to be in your lap snuggled up. He was a stray boy desperate for an indoor home, he wants to be a couch potato! During his exams the vet found Smokey had a condition called Stomatitis. He needed an extensive dental operation to remain a healthy and happy boy. He’s recovered very well and is happier than ever.
Po***ck was the orange boy with the big wound on his side. He was adopted by one of the technicians at the vet clinic where he had his extended stay. Her 8 year old daughter is now his best friend. He gets held like a baby and is the best audience for her to practice her reading skills! His transformation has been an incredible joy to watch!
All 3 of these cats had no other options outside and they’re all the best pets you could ask for. We’re so grateful we have the support for all our work. We hope we can be back at GTMO one day but until then we’re still dedicated to doing all the spay/neuter and rescue work we can. We’re having some issues with Facebook donations so we included the QR codes for PayPal and Venmo as well.

Everyone has been loaded in their crates and going onto the plane now. They’ll stop in Puerto Rico to load more animals and then off to Morristown, NJ. You can track the plane on the Flight Aware app, tail number N235SW! We’re helping 17 animals, most of them are foster cats we’ve rescued, and a few dogs we’d transporting to a partner shelter.
