Peace Lutheran Church
At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came with wind and fire. But when have you experienced the quiet moving of the Spirit?

Have you met Megan, Peace's office manager? Megan joined us at the beginning of the year, and we have been thrilled to welcome her to Peace.
Megan writes:
"Hello, my name is Megan Craddock, and I am pleased to be serving as your new office manager. I was born and raised in Springfield. I have a fine art degree in Ceramics from Bradley University. My focus there was primarily creating large figurative sculpture out of clay, but I am also skilled at throwing on a potter’s wheel. I spent several years serving our community with the Springfield Art Association.
"My personal passion projects include an extensive pollinator garden in my front yard to feed the birds and bugs. Flowers and native plants bring me joy and help me feel at home in the world. I love exploring trails out in the woods while foraging for wild mushrooms.
"I also work downtown on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a new food distribution hub on Adams Street called Salt Fork Food Works. This space is intended to connect local Illinois farmers directly to our community and provide them a year-round indoor market to wholesale their fresh produce and animal products. Feel free to stop by for a visit! Be sure to come early for the best selection of freshly baked breads and pastries."

With the disciples at that first Pentecost, we ask how we can lead other people into a community that makes a difference in the world, a community that has the courage to stand up no matter what is happening and say, "All people are made in the image of God. God has breathed into all people the breath of life, and I will see each person around me as people with dignity because I know that God as made them and that they are my brothers and sisters whether they have come to believe in Jesus Christ or not."

The Women of Peace are halfway through our first year as an official chapter of Women of the ELCA (WELCA), and we'd love to share what we've been up to! Come hear what WELCA is doing locally and nationally; share what you'd like to see at Peace; or just enjoy getting to know other women at Peace over ice cream and coffee. Whether you're a member of one of Peace's WELCA circles, have attended an event like the BE BOLD Vendor Fair or are just curious to learn more, we'd be thrilled to see you at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Scoop du Jour, 95 Plummer Blvd., Chatham. Carpools are available from Springfield.
For more information, contact Emily Miller, WELCA congregational contact for Peace, at [email protected].
Let's root for each other and watch each other grow!

Today is Pentecost.
O God, on this day you open the hearts of your faithful people by sending into us your Holy Spirit. Direct us by the light of that Spirit, that we may have a right judgment in all things and rejoice at all times in your peace, through Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. —Bread for the Day
