Sunny skies with warm & humid conditions are expected for most of the week. Monday will be the best day of the week due to lower humidity values. Starting Tuesday and through the weekend, heat index values will range from 95 to 105. We get a break from the wet weather with no promising rain chances for the next 7 days.

There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms across portions of central and southeast Illinois through the evening. Be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially if you have outdoor plans.

It will be very warm & humid on Thursday during the day but we could see some thunderstorms in the late afternoon & evening. We have a level 1 & 2 risk in the area, but overall the potential still remains low and strong storms should be isolated. The damaging wind risk is why we have a severe weather outlook. 4 pm to 10 pm looks like the best timeframe, but it should be a one & done because we are not expecting multiple rounds.

There will be some humidity today, so it could feel like the upper 80s and maybe up to 90. We are not expecting any rain or storms today. Overnight, the clouds should clear out and temperatures return to the mid 60s. Wednesday should be a nice day with sunny skies and warmer temperatures. Highs will be in the upper 80s, and some humidity could make it feel like the low 90s. Thursday will likely start off with sunny skies and very warm conditions. The humidity could make it feel several degrees warmer, with heat index values peaking around 100. Rain & storm chances start Thursday evening. Thursday evening has a level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather. The risk remains low for now, but it could trend up over the next day or two. The risk is mainly for damaging winds, but more details will be available on Wednesday.
I hope everyone had a great Independence Day weekend! We are back to near seasonable conditions this week, but we will still have the humidity around. We will go throughout today with a mix of clouds and sunshine with a high of 84. While most of us will stay dry, there is a low chance for a shower or thunderstorm. These storms will be isolated, short-lived, and not expected to be strong or severe. The only impact could be localized high rain rates. The storms will be most likely to form between 3 pm & 7 pm. Tuesday & Wednesday will likely stay dry with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. With some humidity still in the area, it will feel closer to 90. Both days should have a good amount of sunshine. Thursday is still trending warmer with high humidity levels. The heat index values will be between 90 and 100. Rain chances are likely by the end of the week and the weekend, but we are still pretty far away, so timing and impacts remain uncertain.
