The PSOS extends our sincere gratitude to Dr. Zettler for his recent visit and engaging presentation. This past Friday, he provided our members with a comprehensive update on how our previous donations have supported essential research focused on the conservation of Dendrophylax lindenii (the Ghost Orchid) and other orchid species currently facing extinction in the wild.

Dr. Zettler is one of the world’s leading experts in Orchid Conservation. His work has helped reveal the critical role mycorrhizal fungi play in orchid germination and root development. This work has allowed researchers to propagate endangered orchids from seed, which are later released back into the wild. Dr. Zettler is also the co-author, alongside Philip Seaton, of a newly released book that explores the challenges orchids face in a rapidly changing climate.
