So many homeowners and renters do not have flood insurance. Many policies cover flooding that comes from inside the home, but not from outside the home, like flooding from rain and rising waterways.
Check that out so you’re not horrified to find out insurance doesn’t cover your damages.
Don’t wait until a hurricane is in the forecast to think about flood insurance. Check your insurance coverage and understand your flood risk. Hurricane season is also a good reminder that homeowners' insurance does not cover flood damage.
Enroll in the National Flood Insurance program to protect your home, business, and possessions. Remember that flood insurance takes 30 days to go into effect: Fema.gov/flood-insurance

A Blowing Dust Advisory continues until 6 pm for a large part of central Illinois east of the Illinois River and north of I-70. With winds gusting from 30 to 40 mph this afternoon, dust is being lofted once again in areas that have had recent agriculture activity. Visibility below a half mile is expected in the worst of the dust. South of I-72, the dust threat will be lower due to the rain that occurred during the morning.
