Many double-coated dogs should be regularly de-shedded rather than shaved.

Breeds like Huskies, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Australian Shepherds, and Pomeranians have a double coat made up of:
• A soft insulating undercoat
• A protective outer coat

This coat works like natural climate control throughout the year

Shaving a double-coated dog can sometimes:
• Affect how the coat grows back
• Lead to patchy or uneven regrowth
• Reduce protection from heat, cold, and sun exposure
• Increase the risk of skin irritation
