World Cup Dad

Three years ago, I’d never played soccer.

Not “I wasn’t very good.” I literally had never touched the game.

Before that, I spent years chronically sick, wondering if I’d ever get my life back. (And told I wouldn’t)

Then God miraculously healed me.

Not long after, I felt Him put a dream on my heart that sounded completely ridiculous…

“Play soccer.”

God said “Go”. I went.

I had no roadmap. No connections. No soccer background. Just one small step in front of me.

So I took it.

⚽️ Sunday rec league.
⚽️ Amateur league.
🇧🇷 Brazil.
🏆 TST.
🇺🇸 USA Pro Indoor.
💙 Drafted professionally by the Empire Strykers.
⭐️ LA Galaxy 3x3 - ADICUP
🇺🇸 And now… selected to represent the United States at the 2026 6v6 World Cup.

Looking back, none of those opportunities felt realistic before they happened. Each one simply became the next faithful step.

I still don’t have all the answers. But I know this:

God rarely shows us the whole staircase. He doesn’t have floodlights for the whole path, but a lamp for the next step. And that’s it…

He simply asks us to take the next step.

Three years ago, I couldn’t imagine this moment. At all! It’s still hard to imagine.

Now I’m preparing to wear USA across my chest at a World Cup in 2026.

If you’ve been sitting on a dream because you feel too old, too late, or too unqualified… I get it…

But, you don’t need the whole plan.

Maybe you just need the courage to take the first step.

So I took the first step.

⚽️ Sunday rec league. (Blue Team)
⚽️ Amateur league. (Kloppin’ Cheeks)
🇧🇷 Invited to train and play with Nacional in Brazil.
🏆 Hoosier Army at TST.
🇺🇸 Called up to play for Team USA Pro Indoor.
💙 Drafted professionally by the Empire Strykers.
⭐️ Played for the LA Galaxy 3x3 team in the AdiCup.
🇺🇸 Called up to represent the United States at the 6v6 World Cup.

None of this happened because I had the perfect plan.

It happened because I kept saying “yes” to the next opportunity God put in front of me.

Looking back, every milestone felt impossible until it became the next step.

If this journey has taught me anything, it’s this:

God isn’t looking for the most qualified. He’s looking for people willing to trust Him enough to take the first step.

You may feel too old.
Too far behind.
Too broken.
Too late.

I did too.

But your story isn’t finished.

Sometimes the impossible isn’t waiting for more talent…

It’s waiting for your obedience.
