⚠️ An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect for Springfield through the holiday weekend.

With heat index values expected to reach as high as 111°, I encourage everyone to take precautions to stay safe. Drink plenty of water, avoid prolonged time outdoors, check in on older neighbors and loved ones, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

The City of Springfield has opened cooling centers throughout the city from July 1–4, with splash pads operating daily and Forest Park and Gerena pools now open for the season.
