Springfield Regional Response Coalition

Recently, hospital representatives attended the annual AHEPP (Association of Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Professionals) Conference in Frisco, TX, where they interacted with peers, acquired best practices, and obtained valuable insights from Subject Matter Experts across the United States and globally. We look forward to reviewing this information and enhancing our healthcare readiness throughout our Region. All of this was made possible through the Hospital Preparedness Grant.

Another great introduction/training with virtual reality for mass casualty incidents (MCI)! A huge thank you to the Litchfield Fire Department for allowing us to provide this training! The men and women of Litchfield Fire Department are phenomenal first responders and we look forward on continuing this partnership!!

This past week the Springfield Regional Response Coalition (SRRC) engaged Emergency Educators LLC to provide multiple Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) classes for our regional healthcare providers. HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL, and Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, IL, hosted a total of 3 classes with over 60 participants in total! Participants ranged from charge nurses, nursing house supervisors, nursing managers, executive/administrative staff, emergency physicians, and emergency preparedness coordinators.

The HICS course is structured for clinical and non-clinical personnel and focuses on the principals of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) mission areas: Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery. Participants of the class received education though didactic learning and hands-on training with a table top exercise.
