Welcoming a child into the world can be an emotional roller coaster. Between hormone shifts and your body adjusting to other physical changes, it can take time to feel like yourself again. If you find yourself feeling sad, hopeless, or unable to find joy in the things you used to, and it won’t go away, it could be postpartum depression.

A C-section is not just a delivery it’s a major surgery where seven layers of skin, muscle & tissue are carefully cut through to bring a baby into the world.
And yet, within just six hours, the mother is expected to stand, walk, and begin caring for her newborn. If you’ve gone through a C-section, you haven’t just given birth you’ve faced pain, healing & motherhood all at once.
You are incredibly strong, and your strength deserves to be acknowledged.❤❤

Have you reached out to schedule your visit with Welcome Family?
Welcome Family is partnering with Baystate Medical Center to offer a FREE one-time visit from a nurse who is experienced in supporting moms and newborns.
If you live in Springfield or Holyoke or delivered your newborn at Baystate Medical Center and live in a surrounding community, then you are eligible for a free home visit or phone call from a Welcome Family nurse up to eight weeks postpartum. The program is for any mom with a newborn regardless of income, age, or how many children you’ve had before.
During your visit, you’ll have up to 90 minutes with an experienced nurse who understands what you’re going through and who is there to answer your questions. You and your newborn will receive a clinical assessment, and you’ll get information about:
• Baby’s weight and health
• Calming your baby
• Eating well to keep you and your newborn healthy
• Feeding your baby, including lactation consultation
• Becoming a new parent
