Join us this Sunday for our annual Flower Communion first celebrated on June 24, 1923 by Norbert Capek, the founder of the Unitarian Church in Czechoslovakia. The sharing of flowers celebrates spring, and the “closing of the formal church year”, and “we reflect on the beauty of distinct individuals coming together as community”.
This year we encourage you to bring a plant, or a flower, and then to take home a different one, and in doing so” imagine…caring for the needs of one another, noticing and celebrating the beauty of one another and regarding with awe the god-given glory of our fellow congregants”.

Saturday, May 30, is the day that was originally designated as Memorial Day – before the holiday was commercialized to become the start of the summer season. June 6 is the 82nd anniversary of the Normandy Landing as part of D-Day.
Memories can be sweet – and they can be horrible. Memorial Day evokes images of lush green lawns with little American flags fluttering in the breeze, but the events that lie behind the holiday were far different from those images. How do we reconcile those two realities – not just when it comes to memories of war, but memories of our lives and the lives of our society?
