Short video of a beautiful timber rattlesnake relocated this afternoon. Even though she buzzed me the whole time never once acted like she wanted to strike. Just wanted to be left alone

How many heads can you count?

Last year we had an explosion of copperheads on the family farm. 11 caught within a couple weeks all in the vicinity of the house. With the wet season it’s looking like we’re going to have, expect these guys to be on the move. Most people don’t think of their privacy bushes/shrubs as easy habitat for snakes, but they can easily become a favored spot. One tip I like to give is to keep your holly and the like pruned at least 5-6in off the ground. Getting rid of leaf litter is another trick to curb the chance of snakes using your garden/landscape beds as coverage. As always this isn’t a 100% guarantee ”snake repellent” but does help lower the chance of snake interaction. This also provides a clearer view of what’s going on under the brush/bush/shrub that are so commonly found along walkways around houses, giving you peace of mind when walking by with your kiddos or pets.
