A list of unsafe foods for birds

Avocado is toxic to birds. So are onions and their relatives (garlic, shallots, scallions, leeks, etc.).

The acid in citrus fruits can be a problem in large amounts, but as an occasional treat they're ok.

The pits of stone fruits (peaches, plums, apricots, cherries, etc.) are toxic to birds and humans, but the fruits themselves are fine. Same for apple seeds. Basically, to be safe, if you wouldn't eat the fruit seed yourself, don't give it to your bird either.

Dried beans must be fully cooked. Raw green beans are fine.

Before giving fruit or vegetables to your bird, always wash and/or peel it to remove pesticide residue.

And please remember chocolate, caffeine, anything sugar free and dairy products should also be avoided at all costs.

More fruit and veggies are safe for birds than not, but this is not an exhaustive list. You can always google specific foods if you're not sure.
