Cydney Bergdorf Tattoos

was a blast! was a champ for sitting 10 hours over two days for his very first tattoo! This is a piece based on the manga and film Tekkonkinkreet - if you haven’t seen it, go watch it right now! It’s amazing. It was super fun watching and researching this film for the tattoo, and I couldn’t be happier with how it came out.

We made the top 10 for black & grey with this, and I’m pretty proud 🥹 excited to continue this sleeve next time.

I had the pleasure of reworking the color and adding on to an 8 year old butterfly sleeve!

Have you ever seen a bumblebee moth? Last slide has our cute fuzzy addition to the sleeve! 🐝🦋

When doing reworks, I look at a few things:

1. The quality of the skin- is there scarring from the original tattoo? Thick or thin? How did the skin react with the existing ink before?

2. What are we salvaging and what are we adding? What aspect of the existing piece does the client value, and how do they wish the piece was different?

On this piece, Dasea had some pretty gnarly scarring and almost all the existing color had fallen out. She loves all sorts of butterflies and moths, is a wealth of knowledge on them, and even collects and frames them. We decided for this session that we would add species-accurate color and see how that heals for her knowing we used the highest quality inks ( & ) being careful to avoid the usual allergy suspects, cartridges ( ) , more delicate but still efficient color packing techniques, and a refresher on aftercare.
