Beyond the Ozarks
Dear Beaver Lake Community. It saddens me to make this post. The support from you and our clients are heartfelt and appreciated. Since November of last year we have traveled to New Orleans and back to NWA due to my mother in law being diagnosed and fighting breast cancer. To the point we moved home to be part of her daily grind of treatments etc... We had finally built our business into a business and the future was bright. This Spring and Summer our phone rang off the hook. Bombarded by messages for tours. Would have been financially prosperous for Beyond the Ozarks Guided River Tours. Besides money we thrived on being part of the community and promoting nature. People felt that on our tours for sure. A simple resolution was hire guys that wanted to tour for us. Restrictions by the Corps did not allow for anyone but me to run our tours. Basically selectively enforced against to the point of shut down. Another simple solution for us would be to put the company for sale but again restrictions in place by the corps did not allow this either. With that said we have two slips with lifts at War Eagle Marina available. If interested please reach out to me by message. There is no way we would be leaving beautiful NWA if not for this foretasted fight we will see our loved one through. The Cheval's of War Eagle Marina are family forever. They believed in us from day one and gave us a chance to build our company on their docks. None of us are happy to see us go. God Bless. Captain Al

This Eagles nest has been a delight for all that has toured with us so far this season. If this nest serves this lifelong pair well due to location concerning food and water, they will renovate it each and every year by adding to it. Nest building is done by both male and female and is a bonding experience. Some nest have been recorded at 10ft in diameter and 20ft deep weighing over a ton! Seeing mom and dad take fish from the water and directly head to the nest with hungry noisy fledgling is a magical sight/sound. Now these two are getting set for the real world. This is the first sighting for us that one has left the nest but the other still waiting on his parents for treats. The parents are frequenting the nest less and less. We see them playfully soaring together sometimes on tour miles from this nest. They seem happy that their duties of raising their brood are done. It takes over a month to incubate the eggs and then the real work starts. The one you see perched in the dead tree has not been seen for days now. Expect he or she is learning to hunt on its own. Its been about 10 weeks now so this is common for them to permanently leave the nest and start life. Most folks see birds like these in the distance or even up close and do not recognize it is a Bald Eagle. Some also mistake them for the Golden Eagle in their juvenile stage of life. These two will go through color morphs for about five years before maturity that forms that distinctive White head and tail over time. To think this stunning compliment to our nation was on the brink of extinction is a reason to educate the world on all Mother Natures creatures. The governments thought process was banning DDT in 1972 and a national reintroduction of young birds like these two was a national effort. It worked. Today they are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and some may not know they also have their own protection act called the Bald and Golden Eagle ACT. I once read an article in a Kentucky write up that in 1986 they had one nesting pair and now upwards of 200. The American Bald Eagle is a true success story for the people of the United States to be very proud of. Pics by Captain Al on the mighty White River in "God's Country" the known as the USA.
