Opening new markets and ports of entry for agribusiness exports from Peru.

PROMPERU in Houston was invited to join the Port of Houston Authority’s “Perishables Roundtable”, which united fresh fruit and vegetable buying companies, importers and distributors, representatives of the USDA/APHIS, Texas International Produce Association (TIPA), US Customs and Border Protection, Pro Citrus Network and Foremost Fresh Direct, among others. The multilateral collaboration, representing all sides of the fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain, is an effort to offer supermarkets a quicker and more economical supply of fresh products in state of Texas (the 8th largest economy in the world, surpassing countries such as Italy, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and South Korea) and surrounding local markets which represent a population of 50 million consumers within 500 miles.
