Lot of takeaways from this one. Here are 3:
1) Appraisers are REALTORS (I don't know how to do the trademark symbol)
2) We want to communicate with you! When I'm doing a difficult property, I call everyone... the listing agent, the buyer's agent, and active agents in the market to gain insight. We want to help and do the best job possible!
3) Appraiser numbers are declining. Most are 55+, and we need young blood to re-populate the industry. We currently have 1 trainee and are planning on hiring 2 more within the next 6 months.

The Value of Appraisers – Texas REALTORS® National appraisal organizations are developing training to prevent unconscious bias in valuations. Several groups have recently committed to a review of their code of ethics and governing documents to ensure that they firmly address bias and discrimination issues among protected classes.
