Good Morning Everyone!
Since it's Friday I will start you with a good positive post!
After overwhelming himself a young business man went to visit his grandmother. He started complaining about how life was so hard and that everything he did somehow managed to go the wrong way. He vented and swore he had been hit with bad luck and said that all was lost.
The grandmother slowly got out of bed and asked her grandson to walk with her to the kitchen. She put three pots on the stove, filled them with water and set the fire on high. Soon the water came to a boil. In the first pot she placed two carrots, in the second pot she placed two eggs, and in the third pot she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.
Twenty minutes later she turned off the stove and fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. Then she pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Finally she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. She turned to her grandson and asked him, "Tell me, what do you see?" Carrots, eggs, and coffee he replied.
She brought her grandson closer and she asked him to feel the carrots. He felt them and noticed that the carrots were soft. She then asked him to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell he observed that the egg was also soft and hard-boiled. Finally, she asked him to sip the coffee. The young business man smiled nervously because he did not know what all of this meant so he decided to play along, took a sip of the coffee tasting the rich aroma and he asked his grandmother, "what does all of this mean grandma?" His grandmother began to explain to him that each of the objects had faced the same adversity - boiling water - but each reacted differently.
The carrot went in strong and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior but after sitting through the boiling water its inside became hardened. The shell did not protect it from the adversity.
The ground coffee beans were unique. After they were in the boiling water, "they" had "changed" the water.
When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?
Have a blessed day my friends and I hope your adversities today are met with your positive challenging attitude.
