I use the outer edges of the staves as my guide so everything lines up clean and stays uniform.

Do I drill every hole to secure the hoops? Yes, every one, every time.
I’m not lazy like others who only secure where they plan to cut.
I drill every hole and keep it uniform, because details matter.
It is time consuming and doesn't add profit to the project but it's part of the design, not an afterthought.
