Spring Hope Fire Department

Today at 11:45am, Spring Hope Fire Department was alerted of a Smoke Investigation on North NC-581.

Spring Hope Brush 6, Tanker 68, and Truck 6 responded to the scene. Along with Momeyer Fire & Rescue Department’s Brush 17, and N.C. Forest Service units. Crews found it to be a working brush fire in the area.

Crews operated until the fire was brought under control. NC Forest Service responded with a dozer and dug out a fire line to ensure the fire doesn’t spread any further. All Spring Hope and Momeyer units cleared from the scene.

At 3:37pm, Truck 6 and Tanker 68 responded back to the scene to soak down the fire line again.

At 7:07pm, Brush 6 and Tanker 68 responded to thoroughly check the fire line again.

NC Forestry advised the fire was likely started last night by the lightning strikes. They estimated this incident to be a total of 8 acres.

NC Forestry and Spring Hope FD units will be continuing to closely monitor the area, it will likely continue to smoke for the next couple of days.
