Veteran’s Day is a hard day for Kevin and me as parents. Many know and understand that our son Nick suffers from PTSD. Watching a child, no matter what age, suffer the way my son does is very painful. He’s our child, we have seen him as a US Army MP working at Leavenworth jail in Kansas for almost 4 years, on a tour to Afghanistan, then to Germany, asked to tryout for Army Ranger and change jobs to Field Artillery in Fort Stewart. He served our country just under five years. In those years we were the most proud of him and he was the most proud of himself too. He was a good soldier, dedicated, courageous, and honorable. After Afghanistan, we watched him spiral, and as parents, we never fathomed that his life would turn out as it has, but we know our son and his heart. Nick worked for us for many years and he’s known by many customers to be kind and courteous. As parents, we pray fervently to God to heal our son and that Nick finds his way back to not the soldier he was, but the person God sees him as. Thank you for your continued love, support, and prayers.
