Morning harvest

The kale is pumping.

Well my "we grow ❤️" sign has been officially retired. After getting beat down by 2 hurricanes and trying to salvage it I finally just cut the only non broke or rotting part off and hung it.

But that's not the important part of the story....

See 7 years ago when I was making my first real house a home I started painting this sign and my then 5.5 year old wanted to help. I was reluctant. I wanted it perfect. But I let him help with the ❤️. And of course paint dripped majorly out of the lines And I tried my best to clean it up but there was always a smudge of paint I could always zee. At some point in this process I texted my sister with my mental struggle and she told me that one day I would look back on it fondly. I said ok trusting her wisdom, but still looking at it for years, wishing I could unsee the imperfection. As I hung this last remaining piece of the sign that was much much more than just a sign for me over the years, I came to realize that I had arrived. All I could see was the perfectness in the imperfection.

We do grow love in this home. Sometimes it's messy and w**dy and takes lots of work. But love is planted here. Love is tended here. And love grows here.

One day you too will look back on your moment fondly, I promise.

Hey! It's me! The Instagram app and I just don't get along. Posting is just so full of frustration. But anyways. I've been busting butt in the garden trying to get ahead of the w**ds before the rainy season sets in. Mostly just trying to clean things up and fill in empty spaces after what feels like 2 years of sub par attention. Can't believe little man is almost 2! So happy to be in the garden regularly again.
