Plan Ahead to Keep Your Pet Safe and Comfortable this 4th of July!
Is your pet scared of fireworks?
If so, they’re not alone. Here are some things you can do to help reduce your pet’s anxiety and keep them safe and comfortable this 4th of July:
Keep your pet inside in a secure space. If possible, create a safe space that is as soundproofed as possible, with little to no windows, and equipped with everything they need to hide out if they feel frightened.
Use a compression wrap or calming cap on your pet. These natural anxiety remedies have the same effect as a weighted blanket for humans!
Ask your vet about medications that could help ease your pet’s stress and anxiety. If you already have a prescription, make sure it is refilled and readily available for the holiday.
Stay close. Your pet feels safest with you and your presence can help keep them calm.
If you need to take your dog outside to relieve himself, do so on leash to avoid the possibility of bolting in fear.
Make sure that your pet’s microchip information is up-to-date – just in case!
We’d like to wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July!
