I've been sharing the 5 systems every fiction author needs all week, and now there's a free tool to help you put them into action.
The Fiction Author's Business Systems Checklist walks you through all 5 systems and helps you score yourself on each one:
✓ Reader Growth
✓ Newsletters
✓ Book Launches
✓ Content & Visibility
✓ Workflows
It takes about 5 minutes, and you'll walk away knowing exactly which system to build first, and determine which ones are already working for you.

Which system do you think needs the most work? 👇
Hot take: Most fiction authors overcomplicate their newsletters.
They think they need a 12-email welcome sequence, A/B tested subject lines, and segmented automations from day one.
And because it feels like so much… they just don't email at all.
Here's what actually works when you're starting out:
→ ONE simple welcome email that says who you are and what readers can expect
→ ONE email per month (or every two weeks) that's genuinely you
→ ONE clear way for new readers to join (a reader magnet on your website)
That's the whole system.
Once that rhythm is running smoothly? Then you layer in the advanced stuff. But the system comes first. The optimization comes later.
What's your biggest struggle with newsletters? 👇
Your newsletter is the ONLY platform you actually own.
Social media algorithms change. Amazon rankings shift. But your email list? That's your direct line to your readers. Forever.
System #2 every fiction author needs: a newsletter system.
Not "send an email when I feel like it." A system for WHAT you send, WHEN you send it, and HOW you welcome new readers.

This is the first thing I tell every fiction author I work with.
You don't need more marketing tactics. You need a system for how new readers find you — and it needs to work whether you're actively promoting or not.

New week starts tomorrow. What if instead of adding more to your plate, you just organized what’s already there?
That’s what systems do. They don’t add work... they organize the work you’re already doing so it actually moves the needle.
If marketing feels overwhelming, it might not be because you need more advice. You might just need a few simple systems.
Here’s to a more organized week ahead ✨

Be honest. How many of these hit home? 😬
I used to check every single one of these boxes. I’d read another book on marketing, sign up for another course, try another strategy... and still feel like I was drowning.
The problem was never that I didn’t know enough. The problem was that I had zero systems to organize what I already knew.
If this checklist sounds like your life right now, you don’t need more advice. You need a few simple systems.

This one shift changed everything. Systems over tactics. Every time.
Once I stopped chasing every marketing strategy and started building repeatable systems, everything clicked. Marketing went from chaotic to calm.
What’s one thing in your author business that you wish you had a system for? 👇

This one shift changed everything for me.
I spent years chasing tactics, trying every marketing strategy I could find. New newsletter templates, new social media approaches, new ad strategies. And I was exhausted.
Then I stopped asking “What more marketing can I do?” and started asking “What systems can I put in place?”
That’s when marketing stopped feeling like chaos and started feeling manageable.
When did you have your biggest mindset shift about your author business? I’d love to hear 👇
You’re not bad at marketing. You’re just trying to do too many things without a system to hold them together.
Newsletters, social media, ads, book promotions... none of it is wrong. But without a system, everything feels random, inconsistent, and overwhelming.
The problem isn’t that you need to learn more. The problem is you need to organize what you’re already doing.
